If you want to be sure that ur phone ia ok just check you modem page and reset it as when you bought it. That's the online way to be sure that they haven't sent to your phone a virus. I mean that on phone is literally impossibile to get a virus. The online way to get one is because someone has installed it for you remotely

Well, it has been 48 hours since I first opened the email, without clicking on any link, of course. Nothing has happened. I did change passwords and activated 2fa to be cautious. But nothing to worry about so far.

Saying again, my phone is in good shape. Everything that I own is in good shape, not a single trace of a virus anywhere. That email was 100% a spam email design to scare me to pay the "ransom". The only thing I said is that is not impossible to get viruses on your phone. You can get a malware on your phone pretty much in the same ways that you can get on your computer.

Sorry man, but it happened to me too while I was hospitalized recovering from COVID-19. I got released from the hospital on Sept. 07, 2022. In my computer I have Malwarebytes Professional version and the Trojan Virus wasn’t detected (I got in touch with Malwarebytes Representatives aWaiting for a response). In any case my printer wasn’t working, my Microsoft Account was taken, and my Facebook Account too. Also my Microsoft Account was being used to buy products from Microsoft. I got notified by my Bank that my account was being used fraudulent. I changed all my passwords and created a new email. I made a report with the local Police Dept. and got a case number. As of now I was able to get my computer working, My Microsoft account but not Facebook. I’m in the process of notifying the 3 Credit Bureau Departments and the FTC. Also waiting for Malwarebytes Representative to see why their program wasn’t able to detect this particular Trojan Virus. Sorry man this threat is real get to work as soon as possible and I wish the best. You can do it.

This scam is still going around, I just got a similar email. The weird thing was that it was sent from my account to myself but when I looked at the sent email folder it was not there. Should I be worried?

I have this same issue however the problem is they sent a picture of my desktop along with It confirming they have access to it. They say they have videos of my webcam however I thought driver based viruses had to keep a screen grab or webcam pic basis to stay undetectable.

dude i got this recently too, and it also implied sexual acts on web cam when I dont own a webcam and i have checked all possible place for camera. not possible at all.

Nothing should happen at least the person who send me the email actually doesn't have any of my passwords, photos or videos as I don't have a webcam or any virus or malware on my PC, it's a fake email they use old passwords from leaked databases that you don't use anymore to scare you to give them money and the photo of your desktop probably just from leaked databases, also don't reply to the email as the person will see that you are using that email address and will continue to spam you, nothing to worry about just delete the emails, stay safe.

The way a virus works is it attacks the receivers email and then sends itself out to everyone on his list and then the next persons list and so on. Look closely at the email that told you this and check the senders addy. I get scam maill all the time saying this acct or that acct was possibly hacked, but it will say pay pal or amazon, but the senders email is like ryeeryawew7s99900rtyhgee0rr0 or some such bs.
Download and run malwarebytes and see what it says, use the free trial and make SURE you get it from Malwarebytes and not some third party. You might find you have some pups, which may or may not be bad, it means possibly unwanted programs.
It sounds like BS to me. People have gotten wise to the phone calls saying you are leaking viruses, personally I loved messing with them, they say they were tracking my IP, but I'm on a VPN. When I ask them what IP they were tracking, they give me an IP that shows up when you check connected IP's on millions of computers, it's a router and you can't track that unless you are logged into it. I'd try to keep them online as long as possible, I'm retired and it's entertaining to make them dance for me.
