These reports bear all the hallmarks of being a scam; it’s when your system locks up and an unremovable message demanding money appears on your screen that you have a problem. As for passwords, I have an open-source free of the internet password manager. I have it installed on a flash-drive, which itself is password protected and that’s the only password I know; all twenty characters off by heart! If you think you might possibly have been hacked, check out this article: https://www.wikihow.com/Detect-a-Remote-Access-to-My-Computer
And as the man said, if you need to download programs, download from the source of origin and not through a third party, where you could be downloading more than you bargain for.

I just got this email yesterday it kinda confused me because don't go on "adult sites" if you know what I mean. I wasn't sure until I saw this post. I have gotten this same email 62 different times in the past few days(in my junk box) from like 50 different email addresses that definitely sound like spam. I was just wondering since I assume this is spam, he didn't leak my password but my email has been hacked before. Could something be going on where someone has my email again, I have changed passwords and I have TotalAV installed, I make sure never to click on any sus links in emails. Is there something else I should to do prevent getting hacked? Is it even possible to have a driver based trojan that is undetecable and able to access all my info/devices? If so why not just do it instead of pretending that they did it? I do find it funny though because it is so blatantly obvious that they are fake because not many people go on "adult sites" and do dodgy things... Should I reply and try to ip grab them for fun?

Please do not reply as this will just confirm the account is active so you’d receive more spam.
If the email is the usual ‘you’ve been filmed xx yourself while watching porn’ then this is a scam intended to convince you that they have the film - they don’t.
To prevent being hacked: do not download or install any software which you’re not 100% sure about & certainly do not install any software intended to help ‘support’ connect to your PC as these are used by scammers to take control of your PC to gather passwords & banking details or to lock you out of your accounts.

About a week and a half ago I recieved a similar email. Same template, different words. They also used "my own" email to send it, which i has been caught on some data breaches and such, nothing major may I add. What really got into me was the fact that the email was sent in the same day that I formated my pc due to a driver mal function, which I'm not sure how it happened. It may be a huge coincidence but still weird. What do you think?

I’m Victor and experiencing same problem. My email, Microsoft account, Facebook has been hacked and changed. I was able to reset my email only with a live tech from Spectrum. But later that same day somehow he was able to change it again. I wasn’t able to get my emails messages. Again I spoke to an ET Tech from Spectrum and change it again. So far my email is working. Microsoft Account and Facebook doesn’t recognize my credentials. I’m hospitalized with COVID-19 and can’t do much until I get home. All my computers are turned off at home. Let see what happen when I try to get it restored.

Hi: sorry to tell you it’s real. First Speak and changed your email password with your service provider. Make sure you report this to the police, make sure your bank account is notified, and any company you are doing business with. Make a report to the FTC and any other Federal Department. Make sure you email is working at all time. At this time I and Spectrum Tech don’t know how the hacker was able to changed my password again when this was done live with a person. Keep you posted when I get released from the hospital.

Thanks for the information. Currently I’m hospitalized with COVID-19. As soon as I get released I’ll will do as you are advising me. If is working for you I have no doubt it will work for me. I’m just curious how he as able to find out my new email password when I changed it with a live person with spectrum. The Tech is also puzzled with this problem. Thanks

You’re right Tovaglioman. You really don’t know who is on the other side. A lady I know that just came out of the hospital around April 2022 got a message from Amazon that $1500 was spent on her account. She called Amazon support at a telephone number which is legal number to verify or make the proper adjustments to her account. Can you believe that the supposedly customer care person was working with the scammers and they tried to wipe her bank account, PayPal and so on. We just got to pray and be lucky. It’s a fact that these scammers are working for bigger Scammers. Thanks

Windows Defender might work to remove the Trojan virus. YouTube has a video (How to remove Trojan Virus from Windows) with step by step instructions on how to remove the Trojan Virus. This I’m going to try to see if it really works .

Honestly, so far nothing out of the ordinary. Scanned my computer in and out and also changed that email password, nothing was found on the scans, phone is in good shape and so far all of my accounts are. If something weird happens, I'll reply here.

If you want to be sure that ur phone ia ok just check you modem page and reset it as when you bought it. That's the online way to be sure that they haven't sent to your phone a virus. I mean that on phone is literally impossibile to get a virus. The online way to get one is because someone has installed it for you remotely
