There is a guy who makes Youtube vids on W10 several times a day and is an Insider says that MS will shortly have a cumulative update for these Anniversary install problems. I guess they will slipstream it into the ISO as well. Try this one on Cortana.

Thanks - seems to confirm what I was thinking

I have deferred upgrades now for 8 months so no good M S knocking on my door its firmly closed,;)
No offence, believe me. This is just chat!
But, looking back through your posts, I do wonder why you are at all engaged in a windows 10 forum? <your posts are certainly not too encouraging for would bes and the like, who are anxious to move on to Windows 10.

There are two separate downloads, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit.
I would assume that in both cases they will contain the ability to upgrade, clean install and or repair both Home and Pro.
At least that has been typical of the ISOs that Microsoft has been releasing and since there is not a separate option to download either Home or Pro, just "Windows 10".
Trouble is correct. It's the activation key or license you have that determines what version (Pro or Home) you'll see.

Perhaps you should go back and read more i have nothing against W 10.
All in all i am quite happy with it but when an upgrade screws your PC up its not good.
Most forums are there to discuss and share experiences and problems.

Obviously you are beyond that so perhaps this is not a good place for you.;)

You are absolutely correct!

I have not experienced the problems that many are having, since the introduction of Windows 10, so maybe it is time to quit..

The repetitive complaints being experienced, now with the latest update, are imo, self inflicted. I am not inclined to start over, at my age, to deal with it.
Thank you for your feedback. As I said, I wanted to keep this on a chat and friendly level. You obviously felt otherwise
Fwiw. I have always interpreted forums such as these, as places where useful help could be found. Obviously, as you say, it has gone beyond that.

Since this update failed to install the other night and my reluctance to try again my windows is broken because over the past couple of days i am beset with BSOD which was never a problem since upgrading to windows 10 from windows 7 so I am very annoyed with MS why did they have to interfere with my working system and all my restore points have been deleted so no way of restoring to an earlier point :-(

probably the best thing, I may not bother again either until I see something show up in the actual WUD. One thing I do though Is continue to make image backups a bit more than before, so in case I click on the update it doesn't start D/L before I have a most recent image to recover from in case there's something I can't fix easily.

Like I said I had this same issue back when W8.1 had that update to 8.1.1 thing, I ended up having to find a ISO, and at that time MS didn't provide any, so I had to find one on some torrent site. (yeah it was clean :) ) to get updated. At least now MS does provide the ISO's.

As for W10 TH2, I haven't had any problems with that version and build. even the start menu is good, and I stopped having to use the 3rd party start menu I needed in 8 and 8.1.

I wish they would publish some sort of release schedule. I have two desktop machines to update and so far as of this posting nothing is appearing in updates. Would be nice to know when I can expect it to show up.

I wonder too if the update will fix my annoying taskbar issue.

If you mean your taskbar sometimes doesn't automatically hide and blocks controls, I'm with you. So far, the taskbar is automatically hiding, but I've only used Windows Anniversary for a couple hours.

I have a few remarks to make here. I have four PC's. One HP still with Windows 7 and will never have WIN 10 on it. Another one has Windows 10 Home, upgraded from WIN 7. It was upgraded to WIN 10 Home Anniversary on Aug. 2nd, and all went well...only taken about 30 minutes to complete the upgrade. The other HP with Windows 10 PRO, upgraded from WIN 7 PRO. NOTE: I have spent at least 48 total hours trying to get this PC to upgrade to WIN 10 Anniversary. I have read several thousand messages on various forums on why, what, and how to make the upgrade. And I have tried them all to no avail. Today, I did something different. I disabled all these items.... Removed the Video graphic card, disconnected the Wi-Fi Internet, and also the Ethernet cable from the computer. Went into System Configurations and on Services tab disabled everything listed, and also Windows Defender. Instead of clicking on the Windows 10 AU upgrade, I downloaded Microsoft Media Creation Tool, and ran a clean Windows 10 PRO .
Well!. luck was on my side, as it did it's thing, sometimes I was thinking it wasn't going to download and install, but after about 1-1/2 hrs. it finally put some messaged on the monitor screen... "These updates help protect you an online World", and next a message came on...Go to Start> Get Started APP to see what's new. and a few minutes after a very black screen...got worried... There pops up a familiar screen...Windows 10 logo and finally the start menus and all the goodies I had before.... I put my fingers on the WIN key +R , opens a run, type in "winver" and click Ok. There it shows I have Version 1607. (OS Build 14393.10)

Now comes the wide's Laptop with Windows 10 Home to try.

How about the old faithful, the Menu bar for Edge?
Why is $MS ignoring the requests for inclusion into Edge?

I tried the Windows 10 Anniversary update tool at
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12387/windows-10-update-history?ocid=update_setting_client
& it failed initially (presuming it was being overtaxed on Microsoft's end). So I came back to it today (after getting initial attempt failure last week). It ran perfectly & now have the 1607 version. I noticed the driver errors (USB drivers for my desktop Gigabyte AMD motherboard) that existed before the 1607 update are now gone; all devices & components are now reporting no errors. Thus, I highly recommend doing the 1607 update.

For all the one's that are having problems with the download for window's site try turning the sleep and monitor settings. I couldn't get the website download to install and kept getting error. Laptop went to windows update setting and it appeared. Install was not a problem. PC never did get the update and all I got was errors after download. I decided to wait. Watched movie on big screen from PC so I set the monitor setting to turn off at 45 minutes and sleep to 1 hour so when I paused movie I didn't have to log in again and again as I never can watch a movie without pausing several times. This morning I downloaded from Microsoft's sight and low and behold no error and install went smooth. Only change was monitor and sleep were set to factory each time I got errors and last time sleep and monitor were set for longer times. Can't hurt to try.

While everyone was trying their best to get the Anniversary upgrade installed, Microsoft was silent in their cubicles getting the bugs out of the upgrade.

well I just love punishment lol

Just re installed the upgrade "again" using the MS media creation tool, the latest version, and got it working, only item that still isn't working right is my Atomic Clock, it doesn't want to expand in the tray as it should, but OK, just removed that irritation and will wait to see if a "fix" comes later.

For now it seems to be working as usual, I still need to get used to the changed start menu, with the folder list showing instead of being able to collapse it like in TH2, but I guess its just a matter of time as it was with any update, at least the start menu is still usable.

So now I'm going through the same process with the desktop, which is a bit old and only 4g ram, but seems to have worked OK with TH2 we'll see :) This time I just clicked to make the USB installer, and wanted to see how that works, when I got up this morning the USB stick was ready to use, and so let it do its thing, so far its doing it.

BTW You will need to re install the updated Windows games pack again, (the one you may have now doesn't work with this upgrade) as these updates remove them again. If someone has a upload area available let me know I can upload the exe to make it available again to those that want/need the old MS games. .

This has again been a weird update, where some have it show up in WUD and many didn't, and No real explanation from MS, other than something about "rolling out".

Keep havin fun lol :)

Well i think i will leave my upgrade as it is set on defer for 8 months.
There is nothing in that upgrade i need or use so as they say if it isn't broken don't try to fix it. ;)
