http://blog.danbrust.net/2015/09/14/installing-visual-basic-studio-6-on-windows-10/Because I need to run Visual Basic 6, I need Windows XP.
No one who knows anything about security says that. If you use it offline, then it's fine. Some say windows XP is still good to use.
Just ask the British governement!. They got hit big-time with the ransomeware bug "WannaCry" a while back!. .No one who knows anything about security says that. If you use it offline, then it's fine.
I noticed Visual Studio Code which I mentioned earlier is listed within that list. I may check it out to see how badly I can screw up. lolNice long list here too, again: I have no idea how good they are!:

Just a heads upI dont use I E and never have only Firefox
SOURCE: https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2017/10/04/firefox-support-for-windows-xp-and-vista/Today we are announcing June 2018 as the final end of life date for Firefox support on Windows XP and Vista. As one of the few browsers that continues to support Windows XP and Vista, Firefox users on these platforms can expect security updates until that date. Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates.
We strongly encourage our users to upgrade to a version of Windows that is supported by Microsoft. Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates, have known exploits, and are dangerous for you to use.
While I agree that you should move to a supported OS and Windows OSs are good OSs there is another alternative to Windows other than Apple which you might want to give a look at.you'll be forced to move to Windows 10.
I agree i have W 7 its a good O S i have upgraded two PCs to W 7 from W 10.7 is better than Vista.....much much better. But both will loose support (security updates). So you'll be forced to move to Windows 10.
Lately i have been playing around with Linux mint and was surprised how quick & easy it was connected straight on the internet and all my history / bookmarks and settings went straight over.
At the moment i have it on a flash drive so i can boot either windows or Linux.
