Did you try what I suggested above (post #16) about removing any registry entries and a clean install of a new clean version?. :)

The next question, and sorry if I missed it, have you tried reinstalling Windows? I mean a complete clean install. I've used every version of Firefox since it's Phoenix days, and never had that kind of issue with it. It's certainly not my preferred browser anymore, as it's sluggish compared to other browsers. But I still use it for specific applications.
