It wouldn't be the first time that an over zealous "Security" software has caused problems with Windows components (browsers and even system files)
I remember a few years back AVG released an update that rendered Windows machines unbootable https://news.softpedia.com/news/AVG-Faulty-Update-Leaves-Computers-Unbootable-97766.shtml
Seems that they all get their respective turn in the box.
With regards to Kaspersky (which I've generally considered an excellent product)…..
They seem to be getting some bad press here in the colonies lately
