GPU are not just for gaming. They also take a lot of the burden of processing off the CPU.

I am using an old PC for testing (Linux Solus 3.26.1) and it has an older GPU from Intel (915G), I cannot run Google Earth on this PC because of the low specs of the GPU!, it is shared memory so I drop from 4GB RAM to 3.2. The CPU is dual core on a 64 Bit system.
