Steve,
Your amazing. I have been dealing with this for over 2 weeks and completely frustrated with the whole thing . Did exactly what you said and everything opened quickly and seems to be running normal again. Thanks! !

Thanks a lot. Great solution, but... I could only get to this fix on the website from another computer, since the bug was locking all my browsers. It's like a catch-22. So I suggest that everyone who is visiting here push the solution out to all your contacts so that they can be aware of it before the crash happens.

Thanks Steve.
After a week of frustration I applied your work around and no longer frustrated! :)
Hopefully a McAfee update providing a fix will be forthcoming.

I used the fix two days ago. I had blamed the recent blizzard for the issues since they started that day but then realized by ISP would probably have dealt with issues fairly quickly. I was constantly re-booting and Task Manager did not really help once things froze - except when I noticed the giant memory hug from SDK. I woke up today though and the darn thing has already re-enabled itself. Used the fix again and it worked, but this gets old really fast. How did it get on my computer in the first place?

Update: For all McAfee users, there has been a *Emergency Fix* being throttled out 50k daily.
This is a *Global* release.
Especially for the High CPU usage.

Yes we are aware of the *Memory Leak* also. It is being addressed as well.
This issue will be addressed in short order also. The process monitors the *Health* of your McAfee processes.

I might add that I was the one whom initiated compilation of logs required to resolve this issue(s). As we Moderator's work closely with the *High Level Engineers/Devs*.
Which you can see in that *Thread*

(As you can see, users are beginning to receive the * Emergency Fix *)

I just this minute received a Mcafee Antivirus Plus update that included new versions of McClientAnalytics.exe, McClientAnalytics.dll, and ModuleAnalyticsProxy.dll. The new files have version number 2.1.173.0 (vs. the problematic version 2.1.167.0). Also, the ClientAnalyticsService changed its startup type back to Manual and the process AnalyticsSDK process is occasionally running, but also stops on its own (and does not appear to get stuck stopping).

So this is likely the emergency update. I'll leave the service enabled and we shall see if this update finally fixes this issue. Hopefully that will indeed be the case. Thanks to the Mods for staying on top of this.

Thanks very much Steve1563, your fix worked perfectly. Browsers have not 'stopped responding' for 10 days now.

Jason , This solved the problem for me. Found on community mcafee thread above

1. Reboot (see step 5).

2. Open your Services (local) either from Admin Tools or from Windows Settings - Search "services" - View Local Services.

3. Find ClientAnalyticsService.

4. To verify that you are dealing with the McAfee analytics service, right-click Properties and check that the path to executable reads:

>"C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\ClientAnalytics\Legacy\McClientAnalytics.exe"

5. To turn off the service, change Startup type from Manual to Disabled. This only seems to work after a fresh reboot; otherwise, it will just hang on "stopping..."

6. With the service now disabled, reboot again.
Jason and all, your method works perfectly - I did find a "shortcut" to save rebooting. When you right click properties and check the path to McAfee in the open box you should see "startup type" about mid page. I was able to switch the service to disabled from there. Then when I restarted the memory was fine and I didn't have to search back to local services again. I really appreciate your help.
Scott
