Word treating text as underlined

Suddenly any text I write in Word is formatted as underlined even though underlined hasn't been selected. Text isn't underlined but underlined is activated as umage below shows. So if I paste any text from Word into other software, like an e-mail, text is underlined.
A bizzarre but annoying problem I'd be grateful to have help with.
