Do you mean that when you are connected to certain websites that your PC does not recognize its own printer OR do you mean that on certain web sites that can provide a printable copy of a page ( recipe websites tend to be this way) that when you hit their print button it does not work?

If you are using Edge as your default browser...
Try using Internet Explorer.
Start Button, All Apps, Windows Accessories, Internet Explorer.
See if that works any better for the LA crossword puzzle.
The way I do it on all websites is at top of Screen you have 3 dots
Left click on them then scroll down to Print that will open up your printer and you should see the page you want to print
Then just press print on your Printer App and it should print ok
