SOLVED Random, Intermittent Router LED Flashing

My computer has been running through an Ethernet connection and my router since 2017. When I'm not using the computer, I see the router's LED for my computer blinking/flashing at random interval intervals even though I haven't touched the computer for hours and hours. This has been happening since 2017. Along with the flashing LED I can here the hard disk seeking. Right now, as I'm writing this, I can hear the disk seeking and the LED blinking although I haven't touched the keyboard for several minutes.

I'm curious. What might be causing this activity?

There's programs and Windows always doing something in the background such as polling the network for activity even when there's seemingly nothing visible happening on the monitor. One thing is the antivirus program's automatic scanning for infections.
