On the Start window after booting or restart I get a small Run window and associated statement: cannot find C:\Program Files\user extensions\client.exe; how do I make that go away??

Good question.
Hello and welcome to the forum.
I would first check the Startup Tab in Task Manager.
Right click the taskbar and choose task manager, select the startup tab from along the top and see if you see anything their that looks like what you are talking about.

Have a look in the Task Scheduler
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Task Scheduler
Look at the bottom in "Active Tasks" see if you can spot that path in the location column referencing client.exe
Download and run adwcleaner from here https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/
See what it finds.
