Windows refuses to update

For the past 1,5 years, my Windows system has consistently refused to update, despite my numerous attempts to resolve the issue. I have tried almost every solution except for a factory reset, as I do not want to lose my important files and data. I would prefer to keep all my downloaded content intact.

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Have you tried resetting the update components?
Open cmd prompt/Powershell/Terminal with admin & enter:

Net Stop bits
Net Stop wuauserv
Net Stop appidsvc
Net Stop cryptsvc
Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore DataStore.bak
Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Download.bak
Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
Net Start bits
Net Start wuauserv
Net Start appidsvc
Net Start cryptsvc

Restart the PC & try updating again.

And/or:
Search for services.msc & find Windows Update & ensure it is set to Automatic.

Have you also tried an in-place repair? Download the windows .iso, mount it & run setup. follow instructions & ensure keep personal app & files is selected. Then continue with the installation.
