SOLVED Windows media dvd player

When Windows 10 was first released I switched from Window 7. At that time, the Windows 10 did incorporate the media dvd player. Recently, I have not been able to use this application. Is there a valid explanation as to why I lost it?

I don't know how "valid" the explanation might be and I'm not one to make excuses for Microsoft, but..... evidently it has something to do with licensing fees as to why they abandoned any native DVD media player support.
Most everyone is either using VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
