All attempts to install update KB5005033 fail on a Wi10 20H2 system with current version 10.0.19042.985. All attempts result in "unable to complete install". Have tried 5 different recommended fixes over 3 days, none of which find any errors or faults. Only fix not tried is extending partition as C: has 17.9 GB free.
Perhaps the update is not needed? although Microsoft lists features for it for 20H2.
Is there a solution?

If you try to upgrade to 21H1 via the media creation tool do you still receive the error?
Download the media creation tool, run this & choose to upgrade now.
I suspect the lack of free space is the cause.

Extending the partition may be the only way. Microsoft recommends 32gb free. There are security fixes in the update.

He'll need more that 17gb free to do that. Brellis, I would try extending the partition. Microsoft recommends 32gb free for updates. Even if they aren't that big, they use quite a bit of disk space while installing.

I read on the Microsoft pages
"If your devices does not have the May 11, 2021 update (KB5003173) or later LCU, you must install the special standalone August 10, 2021 SSU (KB5005260)."
This before installing ,33
Maybe a help?
