Windows 10 update stops at 77%

I am having trouble completing updates on my win 10. I bought a new laptop after the motherboard of the old one conked off. After transferring my authorised version of Windows 10 professional the update of version 1803
was progressing, it stopped at 56 percentage. After a restart, there was another stop at 77% and the update process stopped at that point. Please let me know how to proceed.

How did you transfer Windows 10 to your laptop?

I recently had to install Windows 10 on a new hard drive that I replaced, and I used the Media Creation Tool to create an installation ISO. That created and installed the latest version, 1803, automatically. The install was quick too.

Sometimes, disabling and re-enabling the network connection, can get things moving. But some updates spend a great deal of time at certain points.
