I recently upgraded almost all of my hardware except the hard drive. I reactivated Windows, and the activation page shows "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account," indicating proper activation.
However, when I try to sign in, I get an error saying "... could not log you in to your account" and am prompted to log out and back in, which doesn’t work. Instead it opens a "temporary profile" each time. Everything shows Windows Activation is fine, but the log-in procedure fails.
I’ve reset my password multiple times and verified my Ethernet connection is working. I also tried copying the user profile and Windows folder between hard drives without success.
An upgrade to Windows 11 failed before these issues started, also on a temporary profile.
What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this without purchasing a new copy of Windows?
Thanks!
