Windows 10 Photos app crashes when opening certain photos

The Windows 10 Photos App crashes when opening certain files, both when double-clicking them and when navigating through images in a folder. It lets me view the image but freezes the app, though I can still use the minimize, resize, and close buttons. If I minimize the app and click its icon in the taskbar, it closes itself. After closing and reopening, normal images take about 5 seconds to load, compared to the usual 1 second. I already tried reinstalling, repairing, and resetting the app in the Settings and did not resolve the issue.
