Windows 10 fails to boot

Despite several attempts to reboot Windows 10 it fails to get to the sign-on window. It was closed down properly the previous day. I can see there is some activity going? on the CPU Processor but it sits for hours and fails to boot up.

It sits where "for hours"? What are you seeing on your screen?
How long have your been running Windows 10 on this machine?

I took my PC to a local repair shop and they said that Windows had been corrupted and had to reload it. Now I have a new problem in that they have lost all my old emails and contacts! I had to reload Office to get Outlook back but that must have over written them and I don't know if I can recreate them in any way? I have had Windows 10 since they offered it free..................!
