After running a game, I will try to Alt-tab and the screen will freeze like the image below until I click on the background. When clicking on the background, windows will freeze and refresh windows explorer. Similar issues (freezing and crashing) happen with Win+R, trying to search in the start menu, trying to use search in file explorer, or trying to run a program using run.exe.
Does anyone know what the issue is? I've been dealing with this for a while now. I used to not have this problem and I'm not sure what's causing it.
System specs:
Windows 10 Pro
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3970X CPU @ 3.50GHz
2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
32gb ddr3 ram (corsair vengeance)
250 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
2 TB WD Black HDD
Other notes:
-It doesn't matter how demanding the game in terms of system power, 2D platformers that can run on my laptop cause this issue as well.
-I've tried using memory check, turning off SLI, and scanning both the SSD and HDD for viruses.
-Everything is up to date.
