Laptop internet connection works well when in the same room as the router, but doesn't upstairs, It used to work upstairs with windows 7, can it be possible windows 10 is the problem?

Not necessarily. The place to look is your laptop manufactures website. Just a word of warning. A lot of laptop (and desktop) manufactures have not updated drivers for some of their older models.

There is a ton of web sites describing the common problem of Internet access when converting from Win 7 to Win 10. I was unable to get an updated driver installed. So I happen to have an extra external laptop Wifi adapter. I loaded the new software that came with the Adapter and I am up and running.
