I've recently started getting an error window whenever attempting to run almost all .exe files (the exception being Chrome).

Contents of error message:
"The exception Privileged instructions. (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x00000000748D79F0."

I've attempted to run sfc /scannow which has returned the CBS log seen here (Dropbox). I've also attempted running a number of tools from other forum posts similar, but once again they cannot be run due to the error. I'm on Windows 10 64-bit (Anniversary update), upgraded from Windows 7. I have the Windows 7 installation disk only, no recovery disk etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The SFC extraction from the CBS log looks like the quoted part. You can see some files cannot be repaired so I might suggest you open the Administrative command prompt and use the following command.

DISM /online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
