Hi, my laptop W10 is just new from a week.

I've installed only Chrome and Zoom.
"C: properties" tells me the space used is 59.2 GB.
I've already ran the Disk Cleanup Tool.

How can I find where are all these GBs used for?
Thank you very much

You might find the sller has put an image or backup somewhere, but, even with those, that is lot of used space.
I would guess around 13 to 16 gigs woul be realistic.

How much RAM does it have? The hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) will be the size of your RAM. If you never hibernate that turn it off and the hiberfil.sys file will be deleted.

How to disable and re-enable hibernation on a computer that is running Windows

How to make hibernation unavailable

  1. Press the Windows button on the keyboard to open Start menu or Start screen.
  2. Search for cmd. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then select Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, select Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off, and then press Enter.
  5. Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

You say that laptop is only a week old. With a computer that new, there will be a lot of "sponsored" crap on it which takes a lot of space.

a fresh installation of Windows 10 usually takes up around 20GB, give or take, with added programs it can grow rapidly.
System restore points can take space as well, depending on how it is setup...

It has 32GB RAM. I'll try to turn hibernation off.

Yes, but I already asked Disk Cleanup tool to delete all (but most recent) restore point.

Run Directory Report as an administrator.
It looks just like the MS-Explorer but always shows the folder size.
This makes it easy to drill down to files/folders which are using all your space.

I did just that.

This method removed 12GB of disk space, but the RAM is 32GB.

I wonder where are the other 20GB (=32-12), as I use 49.6GB, and minus W10=20GB, that gives 29.6GB while I've just downloaded about 500MB of data or applications.

Thanks

Just did the same with WizTree64 https://diskanalyzer.com/.

There is a large file or set of files without extension (see attached). Do you know what they are?

Thank you very much!

I have no idea what the files you show could be.
Does WizTree64 drill down to the file level and show a location? If not, try WinDirStat, as shown below. This should be a start as to what the files are.
