Upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, but lost Excel files .

In attempting to open my Excel files, I have entered my product key number as requested, but am advised that it is invalid. When I upgraded to 10, I was not aware that I would lose my Excel data files. Please help.

You should have not lost the files. But do you mean they are gone or you can't open them?

When I change certain parts of my OS, Microsoft Word/Excel programs may ask me to re-activate those installs. If I remember, it is a simple procedure and I don't remember needing a key to do so.

If you have Word, try to open that and see what it shows.
