Trouble updating Windows 10

I have been trying for hours, if not days to update my Version 1511 of windows 10 to Version 1607. After it downloads and starts checking the files it reaches a point saying "something went wrong". When I try manually loading it, after it downloads the files and starts to install, I get a message saying "You can't install Windows on a USB flash drive using setup. After much research I think I need to change the "PortableOperatingSystem" to 0. The only thing is when I go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control" I do not find a "PortableOperatingSystem" file. Am I missing something?
