This Is Kind Of Irritating

A leaked build 10056 is posted complete with pictures and descriptions of new items. Another article states that build 10061 is showing up for some insiders. I check for updates several times a day and so far nothing is showing up beyond build 10049. Wonder how long those of us who have opted for the fast lane will have to wait to try out the new offerings.

Same here.
IDK.... just check now and got to apparently new updates
(KB3058109) and (KB3057424)
So there's that.
I was kinda hoping for this week but according to that Gabe guy at Windows Insiders, they are not likely to do builds on Friday and Monday, so.....
I guess that ship has sailed.
Fingers crossed for next week I guess.

Unlikely MS will release another new build unless they have 10049 Slow ring ready, and it is not ready.
MS cannot fix the slow install bug of 10049, therefore they will not release it in Slow ring.

**** See ? I still can't get the #$@!!! screenshot posted at the bottom !!!!!
Damn. What's wrong ?

Is it a bug? I did a fresh install, but I understand that the reason for the long install time was because it was loading all the language files, with no option.

Must be. Otherwise, Gabriel Aul wouldn't say it that way.

How long did it take you to do the clean install ?
Eternity ?
I tried the Clean Install of 10049 ( iso from esd ) but installation took forever. Then freeze city.
I ended up reinstalling ( clean ) 10041, then upgraded back to 10049. It still took 7 + hours.

Yes. I installed the stupid 10049 3 times.
I need a life !

My installation from the iso took the usual 1½5 +/- minutes. But, I was not aware that Gabe Aul had made that statement. Sorry for that. But I think the problem with an install is country specific. (I am in Denmark)
This is the only comment I have read, in the Windows 10 TechNet forums:

If you’re blocked from installing the latest build because you don’t have enough disk space, you’ll want to free up 2.5 GB of space to resolve the issue.
If you want to reclaim the extra disk space from the language packs after installing the latest build:

  1. Open a command prompt as an administrator
  2. Bring up the interface for uninstalling language packs by typing the following command and press Enter:
Lpksetup /u
3. Select the language packs you want to uninstall.

In my case, after installation, I only had the English and Danish languages available.
I have since removed it, as I had several other bugs with the build.

I am aware of that thread from Microsoft Community.
If you read the quote again. It started by saying.......
If you’re blocked from installing the latest build

It applies only to those who failed to install because of lack of disk space.
For those people they are advised to uninstall all the language packs BEFORE installing 10049.
For most of us, we have only the default display language and perhaps one other language. We do not get the lack of disk space error message. We did manage to install but it took eternity. Most of us gave up at the "infamous" 30% stage where it just sits there till kingdom comes.

There is a bug causing slow install.

As I said, David, I was just quoting that as the only relevant comment I was aware of. I was unable to find Gabe Aub's comment on the subject of difficulties with the installation. I have certainly read of cases of slow installs, but 7+ hours does seem excessive.

Pure speculation on my part but with their big "Build Conference" only a week and a half away (April 29 San Francisco http://www.buildwindows.com/ ) I've got to believe that things have to be rock'n behind the scenes at Microsoft and perhaps the Insider Program may be taking a back seat, at least temporarily, as they ready a more robust, full featured release for that presentation.
I know most of us here spend time on various other forum venues and there is no shortage of frustration and complaints regarding various "presumed bugs" in the builds (PC and Phone(s)) we've seen released to the "Insiders", so.....
I guess, shortly we might get to see how outside, we insiders actually are.

If what I suspect is about to happen, actually does happen then the other speculation about the "Insider Program" continuing even after Win 10 RTM, for their "vNext" product ( http://www.winbeta.org/news/microso...ws-10-codenamed-redstone-targeted-arrive-2016 ), may not garner the following and participation that this one has.

Are you fast or slow ring, Trouble? I changed to the slow ring. I couldn't cope with those build downloads with MS "experiments" on them, so I am unsure when I will get the next build.

Bo stress here. I have just been looking at pictures and comments, on one of those sites in funny language(you know what I mean), of build 062. Up to that number, there are no changes which are about to astound the audience.
On the computers on which I have tested it, the performance all-round is improved from Windows 8.1, so, whatever, I guess I will be moving on.

I think we might be looking at something between 1007x and 1008x for that build conference presentation and that's why I'm just a little ticked.
We're way off the mark I think.

I would guess it would be a little beyond that.. The latest "Impressive" build, which could well be the demo at the forthcoming conference, is
10.0.10074.0. In house they are now working with 10.0.10108.0
