My spell check underlines practically everything whether it is correct or not. Suggestions?
The option of "report a problem" does not exist!

Hi Rose,

Welcome to the Forum.

Can you clarify whether this is occurring in Microsoft Word only, or in any document opened in any application.

If it is Microsoft Word only, can you let us know which version of Word you are using, or the version of Office, if its the other apps too such as Excel, PowerPoint etcetera,.

Also, could you do the following for me please:
  • Press Windows key + S
  • In the Search field type command then select Command Prompt from the search results
  • In the Command Prompt console type or copy & paste the following:
Code:
REG QUERY "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools"

Press your Enter key

Let me know what results you get from this query.

Note: Your results may vary from the above sample which displays a sub-key located at the Registry key path just queried. If you see a result that displays a result including the following sub-key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Override

Then this is likely the root of the issue.

Let me know what results you get, and I'll provide instructions on what to do next.

Hi Rose,

what local language do you have installed?, spellcheck defaults to the system language and will underline any other language if it isn't the default as an incorrectly spelled word(s) and/or, will show words as incorrectly spelled when there are missing language packs!. :)

Check your defaults in System Settings> Time and Language > Region & Language:
