SOLVED Sound mixer : playback works fine, but record not picking up audio

I use Audacity for recording, but cannot record as no sound comes thru. PC has internal speakers which work. The sound control panel recording tab shows stereo mix with microphone disabled and sound mix in the green for go and is set as default. Any ideas to get sound mix to obtain the signal?

I imagine its a setting in Audacity that is incorrect, and this tutorial explains each setting to use.

It's not in Audacity. I tried another recorder, MP3 My MP3 4.2 and same problem no input so it cannot record either. It is definitely an issue in Win10, or a setting somewhere.

You might want to discuss the actual sound source.. Is it coming into the system from a local source, over the net or from playback of your system.

Got It. Was as simple as ENABLING MICROPHONE.
