Sleep/Hibernate

I've got a fairly new Asus desktop that came with Win 7 or 8; I promptly upgraded to 10, which I really don't like. My main issue right now is that no matter what power setting I have, the damn thing will not stay asleep. Either it won't go to sleep after 15 mins, or it wakes up in a couple of hours without anything being touched! Likewise if I try hibernate (what's the dif anyway???). Am I doing something wrong? Is there anyway to manual put ti sleep where it won't wake up until I press a key?
