Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update - Nothing but loading dots

Hello,

Upgraded from 8.1 earlier today. Hours later, I realized that the Windows Update dialogue box hangs with nothing going on except the loading dots animation (for up to half-an-hour so far). Can't tell if there are new updates and I'm concerned there could be some in the future that I may need but won't be able to access them.

Any help please!

This suggestion will sound stupid, but restart your computer and then try check for update again.

Have restarted/rebooted multiple times. Same result.

No guarantees. Try the following.......
At the search box, type troubleshooting > top left, click Troubleshooting > bottom of the list, click Windows Update > click Advanced > check the box Apply repairs automatically > click Run As Admin > restart computer.

Thanks for that suggestion. However, troubleshooting found no problems.
