Is there a registry entry that can be changed to PREVENT micorsoft from changing settings EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE COMPUTER - even just one setting would be nice - specifically, STOP IT FROM CHANGING THE SETTING of updating my computers from others on the internet - everytime I start my machine I have to one start ANTI-BEACON to immunize P2P updating and the I have to go into setting and change the setting to PCs on my network ONLY ... if these clowns are gonna provide the choice - why in HE LL wont they respect that and leave it alone!!!!! ..

Try settings-Updates-Advanced Options-Choose how updates are delivered. It can be set to use only local systems or local and internet or none.

I just turned it off and shutdown and restarted and the setting stayed.

Any chance you are syncing settings which resets it. I might think if that is happening you would need to stop syncing or set ALL your systems to off.
