I have a habit of (exporting) backing up my registry every time I create a new system Image, Your opinions would be appreciated.
Is this a good thing, or a waste of resources. I figure that if my reg gets corrupted for any reason I can quickly repair it without having to reinstall a system image.

My thought would be using an older Registry on a newer system could cause problems.

Windows 7 used to do registry backups on it own. I don't know what the heck Win 10 does.

There is an ongoing reg back up folder:

C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack

On my computers, several of the files have been updated to yesterday's date, but the logs are empty.
However, if you have the OS auto backup facility operating, that should be taking care of the registry, together with all else.
I have no faith in that particular method, and prefer to make a complete, third party, image, at least weekly.

Dave Thanks! I saw the folder, it contains 6 files or hives, I wouldn't have a clue how to import from that folder, or folders and which would you choose?
I think that I'll stick with the old method, it's easy to export/import. The C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack only saves to the back up folders on boot up. If you are a user that leaves the PC running then those files could be way out of date.
For peace of mind, I'm with you on this."I have no faith in that particular method, and prefer to make a complete, third party, image, at least weekly".
