Recording sound

I have a video from which I want to record the sound - and do it directly through software - but I can only do it through the loudspeakers.
What do I do?

I use Total Recorder set to record anything heard in the speakers to be saved as one of several formats, but there are paid-for programs that can extract sound from video files, haven't haven't checked any out yet. TR can be used to edit or clip the sound files to remove parts.
