Hello,

When I install a Program, or most anything, is there any difference
between installing it under C/ or Programs/ or Programs(86)/ ?

Does it matter, or are there any caveats, which of the three it goes under ?

Thanks,
Bob

First off the backslash \ is used when dealing with files on the computer called the "Path", the forward slash / is used in URLs/addresses on the Internet.

Yes it can make a difference but can't say what as I've never dared to do it in a whole bunch of computing years.

The C:\Program Files Folder exists on both the x86/32-bit and x64/64-bit versions of Windows

The C:\Program Files (x86) Folder exists only on the x64/64-bit version of Windows.

Usually the way a program installs should be accepted.

32-bit programs will run on both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware while the 64-bit runs only on 64-bit hardware, same for Windows itself.

Programs are coded to be installed as necessary, best to accept it.

If one has 2 drives, or 2 partitions on the only drive, the install can be changed to a different location using the Custom install routine.
