First off the backslash \ is used when dealing with files on the computer called the "Path", the forward slash / is used in URLs/addresses on the Internet.
Yes it can make a difference but can't say what as I've never dared to do it in a whole bunch of computing years.
The C:\Program Files Folder exists on both the x86/32-bit and x64/64-bit versions of Windows
The C:\Program Files (x86) Folder exists only on the x64/64-bit version of Windows.
Usually the way a program installs should be accepted.
32-bit programs will run on both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware while the 64-bit runs only on 64-bit hardware, same for Windows itself.
Programs are coded to be installed as necessary, best to accept it.
If one has 2 drives, or 2 partitions on the only drive, the install can be changed to a different location using the Custom install routine.
