Problem connecting to Outlook

I am now getting the message, 'A problem connecting to Microsoft Outlook'.
This has only just started.
I'm running Win 8.1
ASUS X55A-JH91 15.6 Laptop
Outlook 2016
Can anyone advise me of a solution to this. Many Thanks

That's a pretty generic error and question, doesn't give much information about the computer and the environment it is being used in. Outlook [part of Microsoft Office] is an installed E-Mail Client. [On the other hand Outlook.com is an Online/Webmail function through the browser.] As for the environment is Outlook being used in a home or in an office connected to a physical Network? If it is a server-based Network is Microsoft Exchange involved? I haven't been convinced to upgrade from Office 2013 and Office 2010 yet so have only worked with Office 2016 and Office 365 a few times on clients' computers.

I would try repairing your office sweet first. Go to control panel, uninstall programs, highlight your office sweet, then click change. In the pop up box that comes up, select repair.
