After automatic update to W10 I am now required to use a password again on login. I had already disabled with the Run netplwiz command previously, but that no longer works. is there any other way to disable the requirement for login password?

Hi,

When you say netplwiz no longer works can you give some more details please.

This option is available still in the Windows 10 environment:
  • Right-click on Start then left-click on Run
In the Run dialog type netplwiz then click OK

This window opens by default:

netplwiz.png

If you remove the check in the box next to Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer you will be able to automatically log on.

Note: This option does not delete password, it simply automatically fills the details in for you as machine boots up, saving you the hassle of entering details and clicking to log on.

There is a way to actually create a local user with no password and thus mimic this process, but its not very practical given the universal apps mostly require a Microsoft email and password log on to function properly.

There is a little more to do, before that.

The OS still uses your log in details. After you have Unticked the box, and then selected "Apply" at the bottom, you will be taken to a further window, where you are require to enter your password twice. Then all should be OK.
