Opening JPG files

When I want to open a JPG file, a list pops up to choose what program to open it. I select the one and there is an additional choice to always use the selected program automatically. I check that also. However it still pops up with the 5 or 6 program choice window when I click on a JPG file. How do I get the choice to stick????

It should have worked, with what you did. But, Open the Control Panel - Default programs.- Set your Default programs.
Scroll down and find the program of your choice and , over on the right, select this program as your default.
