Onenote app and onenote 2016

Hello,

I have been trying all day to figure out how to open the same onenote notebooks on both platforms.

I want it so that if i make an edit on one the edits appear on the other. SO both the app and the program have access to the same file

Aparently the onenote app only stores the files on the cloud, using oneDrive.

I would love if the onenote app can open a locally stored file or even a onenote file stored on Dropbox.

The reason for this is I would like to sync all changes across my phone, laptops and tablets. but my older laptops use windows 7 so idk how to make it work

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Wouldn't OneDrive be a potential solution.

I was under the impression that they had a solution for most platforms, so you wouldn't have to go to far afield
