I heard about that too. Next rumor is that RS5 will be released in 2019 changing the cycle from bi-annual to annual.
As said, just rumors....

Dunno why they don't just call it Windows, with an update/version, like most other software people

IDK either, especially since....
There is never any actual mention of the random naming of month or season (August, Fall, Spring, etc.,) within the actual installation itself.

Fall and Spring seems almost irrelevant when you consider 1709 which reflects September of 2017 was only actually "Fall" in some geographical locations around the globe.

Maybe the name tag for Windows major updates is more of a media name tag thing and not that of Windows. As Trouble mentions, I believe MS officially use the yy.mm. for the updates nameing. Makes sense to me!
