What physical action are you doing to get into Advanced Mode?
Generally when both the keyboard and touchpad on Notebooks quit it means the data cables from them have loosened from the motherboard, usually after the palm rest/cover has been removed for working inside the computer. Has someone done repairs on the Notebook or has it been dropped?
Check your Intel Drivers, in control panel, In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices uninstall the Intel Precise Touch Device, and then restart
Have you deactivated the KB and touchpad using the FN key and whatever keys are responsible on your laptop, some laptops have a switch to disable the KB/mousepad?.
