msi touchpad has stopped working

my msi touchpad suddenly stopped working mid use
in device manager, it shows a problem with my I2C HID, displaying error 10. i've tried several fixes I found online but nothing has worked. i also noticed that all mentions of the touchpad have disappeared from my control panel.
any help would be appreciated.

Is there any physical key or an entry under the BIOS to disable the touchpad?
Does it show under device manager? If no then check further under View>Show hidden devices. If it doesn’t show there & there’s nothing under BIOS & no key then most likely the hardware has failed.
