Microsoft store apps vs desktop apps

Hello, everyone. I own several older pcs and the Microsoft store apps always seem to be very unstable compared to the desktop apps. Is it just the pc or is this a fact?

Desktop apps are always the way to go. The store apps lag behind when it comes to updates and some are never updated.

I really don’t care about updates, I want something that “just works.” I can get Rufus through the store or through there website, but in every experience it always takes longer with the store.
