Having just upgraded to Windows 10 on a new laptop, it is asking me to register my Word credentials before I open an e-mail attachment in Word. I use a non-Microsoft suite currently.
Do I have to buy MS Office/Word to proceed in Windows 10. Help, please!

Hi @ChasM, welcome to the forum!

There's no requirement to have MS Office/Word installed when using Windows 10. Have you got the office suite pre-installed, but you've not activated the license? If you are using a 3rd party office suite, try setting that to be the default application for that file type.

The easiest way to do this may be to save the word document to the desktop, right click icon > "open with" > choose app and then check the box to make this the default.
