Can anyone help me with the issue I have that my new 128gb micro SD Card bought today from a well known electrical store, it does not have a lock switch but it will not allow me to do anything with it, not save to it, copy to it, create a new folder etc, each time I try and action something it says:
The disk is write-protected. Remove the write protection or use another disk" I have gone through all the procedures of "DISKPART" and cleared it, but still no joy. Someone told me to check the card properties, events tab and it does say there "Device not migrated" is this relevant?
In the details box it says "Device SD\DISK&Generic&SD&2.0\5&b4a16c6&0&000000e2&0 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match"

followed by this: "Last Device Instance Id: SD\DISK&Generic&SC16G&8.0\5&25abd05&0&ad9520eb&0
Class Guid: {4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Location Path:
Migration Rank: 0xF00000000000F020
Present: false
Status: 0xC0000719

again is this relevant? Can anyone assist here please?

it does not have a lock switch
Are you using a micro to standard SD card adapter?
IF so, that likely does have a lock switch.

Can you use "Disk Management" to interact with it?
Does it see it?
Can you see any and all partitions?
Can you delete those?
Can you format it?
Can you assign it a drive letter?

Evening Trouble, thank you for the prompt reply, I am not using an adapter as my ACERPC Mini PC only has a slot for micro SD Card upto 128gb, bought today especially for this so no lock switch, nothing wants to interact with it, when I insert it to the slot it shows up straight away on my screen but its like its not operational. Excuse my dumbness but I do not know what "partitions" are??
As the SD Card is new there is nothing on it as yet, it will not allow me to save anything to it as it just gives me the message of "The disk is write protected" I did not believe it would need formatting being new but tried to do it anyway but it gave me a box of "cannot format write protected card". As soon as it is in the slot it pops up as D drive not sure if this can be changed or even how to do that.

Hi Trouble, ok I have wondered if it is the slot that was playing up so I have now got a male USB in to the PC with a female USB on the other end, in there I have a USB adapter that I can plug in a SD Card adapted (postage stamp size one) and in that I have my 128gb Micro SD Card and it all works fine, full access to everything, can save, delete, create etc, so it must be the Micro SD card slot that has the issue, yes?

Good to hear, although I don't know why it would work through an adapter and not the actual SD slot as intended.
I believe there are instances where the mobile device itself (not the card, the computer) has a software interface that is used to dictate and control how particular physical interfaces behave.
Maybe check any documentation you may have or can find online as to that particular Acer Mini.
Perhaps it defaults to read only and you need to toggle a switch somewhere to change that default.
May involve a function key or key combo or even a physical switch on the mini.

Thanks for the info and ideas I will try that, I did not read the smaller print when I bought the Acer Mini PC and bought a 500gb micro card initially only to find the pc would only handle 128gb max hence I went and bought the card today, I will read the online to see if there is some sort of switch, my other option is that I can buy a 2.5in 2TB SSD for it which fits inside the lid so that could be my best option, thanks for your assistance and enjoy the rest of your evening, and if we do not speak again I hope your festive holiday period is full of much love and laughter for you and all your family.
