Mail doesn't sync

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1. When I try to open my mail, I get a message "not synced yet". I tried changing settings and then I got an error message saying there's a problem with certificate for bigpond.com and the error code 0x80072f06. The error message advises to wait and try again, which I have done three times. Where do I go from here.

I have the same problem (though upgraded from Windows 7). No longer get the try again message, just the "not synced yet" one. On the fourth day of the same message.
