Mail and Calendar apps instantly close after opening from live tiles in start menu

I have had this problem since upgrading to Windows 10 from Win7, and it is not at all consistent. If I click on the Mail, Calendar, or Weather apps from the start menu, sometimes they just automatically close right after I open them. In a few cases I re-click again and they open only to instantly close yet again. But most of the time, they stay open without problems.

I cannot figure out what is causing this behavior and it is quite irritating. In a few cases I have actually started working on my calendar only for it to instantly close by itself while I was making an entry.
