Why do I rec this error when trying to save to desktop

Difficult to answer straight, without seeing how you have your computer geometry set up.
But, in my case, it would certainly be the wrong path. Mine is, and always has been

C:\Users\username\Desktop

If you are using Desktop under Quick Access in File Explorer, right-click it, select "Remove from Quick Access" and use the one under "This PC". If you can't find it, press the Windows and "R" keys simultaneously, type "%userprofile%\desktop" with the quotes into the "Run" box and click "OK".
