Hi all,

Need some help getting through this loop please.

Lenovo ThinkCentre, 32bit was running fine on Windows 7 Home. The upgrade to Win 10 downloaded fine and started installing until the final bit Settings etc when there was a brief error "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" without any further info. No codes, numbers or anything else. Installation continued until 97% and then started rebooting in a loop for several hours already.

How to get through this? I'd prefer to finish the installation properly, but otherwise would like to roll back to Win 7 and have a usable machine with all data and programs intact.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Frank

KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
Hello and welcome to the forum.
That error is a Blue Screen aka BSOD formerly, and would suggest that there was and is a driver issue which caused the problem.
Did you check the Get Windows 10 app (GWX.exe) in advance of the upgrade, did it suggest that there were any compatibility issues?
Is your specific computer on the supported list? https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535
Is there any information on the Lenovo support community specifically for your computer and this particular issue?
You may have to look around some or actually contact them for help. Here is a list of some https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103745

If your computer is unresponsive and you're unable to do anything with it you'll need to use another computer and obtain the installation media from one of these resources and use that to boot your computer from a DVD or USB ThumbDrive and attempt some of the troubleshooting / repair options.

Thanks for your help, which proved very helpful indeed. I downloaded a full install file and used that to do an install successfully. There was no repairing the failed one, but the new install ran without issues. The only disadvantage is I need to install a number of applications again, but luckily I had prepared all the install files necessary.

Once again, thanks for the help!
