Keep getting an error message

I keep getting an error message There is no ' package.json' in the package, please make sure the package json is in the root package. What does this mean! Things crashed yesterday and I had to restore from a previous upgrade. I am using Windows 10. If I have to uninstall it, how do I redo things..I dont want to have to pay for it! It was free

When do you get this error? What are you doing when it happens?

What things crashed?? The whole computer? The Operating System? A particular program?

I had to restore from a previous upgrade

So what does that mean exactly..... what is or was "a previous upgrade?
