Issues with all Windows tasks

Hi all

Windows 10 search, settings, powershell (admin) are all not opening.

Sfc scan finds errors but cannot fix them.

Chckdsk fails.

If I try and change desktop properties / resolution it says that no associated file attached.

Tried a couple of error fixing programs (Tweaker et al) with no success.

Every solution seems to involve using settings in some way but cannot open it.

Any help would be appreciated.

We can't help if you don't tell us the messages displayed when you try things.

For example, a bad HD could easily cause the problems you're having, especially when you say that both SFC and CHKDSK fail. But without telling us exactly what Chkdsk reported except that it "fails", leaves us to guess what might be happening.

p.s. my money's on a failing HD

Its okay. Posted on bleeding computer the exact same post and got a solution.

DISM repair allowed SFC to work.
